Vishva Vinayaka

by alka goel on December 3, 2009

It must be 7th or 8th piece of this pattern i made on order. While i made first oen i was reluctant to do it on order because of its uniqueness n this was the reason for ppl to go abt it. still i tried making every piece a little diff from another. like in this one addition of simhasan n use of red colour for thta long with use of white stones against the dark back ground. i hope it worked well.

krishna in tanjore

In North India Krishna in standing in this particular position is called tribhangi lal since his body is bend at 3 places, as in my other work here also i have deviated from orthodox tanjore work with bright colours.

Oil Painting – Shephered Couple

by alka goel on July 7, 2009

himachali-shepherd-couple-in-oil

hi ,

In this oil on canvas i have tried to make a shephered couple from Chamba district of Himachal as authentic as possible. The nose ring in painting is very typical of Chamba. and  you can observe colours and pattern in the cap worn by the young shepherd to be same as in the cap worn by ppl of  himachal pradesh. they r the nomads roaming around the state rearing the sheeps for livelyhood. becoz of hard living up in mountain the cloth they wear is of think  n coarse material.
