Hi all,
I would like you to welcome Chithra Sekar. It was so nice of her to share her work and technique with all of us. Thanks a lot Chithra, a great fan of all your Madhubani and Warli Painting
Madhavi
The traditional Madhubani paintings are from Mithila region, Bihar, India. It became world known folk art during the 1960’s. Madhubani means a forest of honey. It is mainly done by women to decorate their home.
The paintings are done using handmade paper and mud wall. The colors are natural which are extracted from plants. Madhubani Paintings are mainly focused on nature related themes like sun, moon, tulsi, fish, animals, leaves, flowers, and god and goddess figures.
The colors mostly used are all bright colors like red, blue, green, yellow and orange.
The outlines are drawn with two lines and the gap between the lines is filled with tiny lines or x mark.
I wish to learn the paintings from their respective region by using the handmade paper and natural colors.
At present I am using the paintings on glass, water color board and canvas board.
I am giving the method using the canvas board. If you like on glass or water color board please let me know I will send you the details.
