I started learning embroidery right from 10 years. First I learnt basic stitches at my school from my craft teacher. Later in my holidays after 10th class, i learnt more stitches from my mother and my pinny. And now after my marriage, I have been teaching all hand works to all ages starting from 10 years. Among all works, I love ribbon work, which is very expensive in Andhra. But it gives a very rich look to saree.
This is the rich pallu. For ribbon embroidery, all that we need is
1. Satin ribbons of different colors and different sizes.
2. Inverted silver Chamki
3. Transparent beads
4. Threads-white,green
5. Agarbatti for locking ribbon at the back side.
Even the white balls like design is also done with white sattin ribbon.
This ribbon work is widely used for special dresses on special occasions. So I hope you can easily do this work for your Diwali dress.
